UMANG, One App – 1200 Govt Services

After BHIM, as a part of digitalization Govt launched the UMANG App which will provide 1200 Govt Services in one App. The name stands for Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance.

The 1200 services include hundreds of state and central departments. The app was launched by PM Modi, during a global conference on cyberspace.

As of now, the app has around 162 Govt. services across 33 Govt. departments from 4 states.

The app has been developed by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the National e-Governance Division (NeGD).

UMANG app will be soon linked with Aadhaar as well, thereby completing the circuit for a fully integrated, scalable application for e-Governance.

The app is available for Android, iOS, and WindowsPhone and you can also access it from your browser. In coming days Govt would launch a Desktop version and a USSD code facility to access the services without internet. You can also give a missed call to 97183-97183 or SMS to get the app download link on your number

After installing the application on your Mobile you have to create a profile by entering your personal details. Umang also lets you link your Aadhaar number and also other social media accounts with the application.

The app offers a services section where you can find different categories of services and access them by filter, sort, and search. The app refers you to respective apps according to your need. For example, if you have any query regarding Income Tax then the app will refer your Income Tax related apps.

Apart from government services, You can use Umang for payment of various utility bills as well.

Umang includes services related to – Aadhaar card, AICTE, Bharat BillPay, Bharat Gas, CBSE, DigiSevak, EPFO, My Pan NPS, Pay Income Tax and much more. Umang will be providing integration with various other services such as PayGov in the days to come.

One of the interesting fact I like is, it comes in 13 different languages. That means you can access this 1200 services in your mother tongue.
